A Quick Overview
I thought of buying a narrowboat due to not being able to afford a mortgage at 50 years old. I carried out as much research as I could from websites to YouTube. I visited brokers and looked at styles of boat and imagined myself living in that space. What I believed I could and what actually happened was about managing expectations.
I opted to buy a new boat because I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler and DIY is not one of my best strengths. I looked prices of narrowboats and the quality of builds. You can watch the story unfold by watching my life so far on the YouTube. Chris Mears - Narrowboat In Slow Time
The homework of the build and my thinking is documented within the YouTube channel. I’m now in my second year and starting to enjoy it. It’s changed my outlook on life and have found a new style of friend that I never considered prior to life on the water.
Be Warned: It’s not an easy life so whatever you see on YouTube it’s not all a bed of roses. Well I don’t think so and I served 4 decades in the military.
